Shepard Smith Has Some Strong Words for Trump
“You call us fake news and put us down like children for asking these questions on behalf of the American people.”

We all know that Shepard Smith doesn’t mince words . And occasionally, he says some reasonable shit . Now, he’s combining these two qualities by blasting President Donald Trump after today’s notably bizarre press conference .

After Trump wildly dodged questions and claimed that the “leaks are real” but the “news is fake,” good ol’ Shep went in on the president. Calling CNN’s Jim Acosta “good reporter,” Smith defended the role of the media, imploring Trump to drop his current tactic and actually answer questions.
“It’s crazy what we’re watching every day. It’s absolutely crazy,” Smith said. “He keeps repeating ridiculous, throwaway lines that are not true at all and sort of avoiding this issue of Russia as if we’re some kind of fools for asking the question. Really?!”
In particular, he highlighted out Trump’s vilifying of the reporters, calling out a tactic which has been notably called “gaslighting “:
“Your opposition was hacked and the Russians were responsible for it, and your people were on the phone with Russia on the same day it’s happening, and we’re fools for asking the questions? No, sir, we’re not fools for asking the questions, and we demand to know the answer to this question. You owe this to the American people.”
Adding that Trump’s supporters “will support [him] either way,” Smith said that “the people deserve” the answers:
“We have a right to know. You call us fake news and put us down like children for asking these questions on behalf of the American people. …The people deserve that answer, at very least.”
It’s still Fox News we’re talking about, but hey—gotta take what you can get.
